4 Influential scientists who turn out to be just a self-taught person!

We should be grateful to the technology, because with one of the great inventions called the internet, we can access a lot of information that we might not get in the era before the internet.

In the days before the Internet, an expert who did not undergo a formal education, of course can be categorized as self-taught. In ancient times, only a high will could make them the best. They encourage their talents, fail and try again, then it could be the best without having to sit in the classroom in the direction of the teacher.

Here are some names of people who can not formally called a scientist because they do not have education. But their work can be as good as scientists. Let's review it.

1. Julian Assange

We may know Julian Assange as the person behind WikiLeaks. And when it comes to self-taught, it would be unlawful not to talk about him.

He himself studied programming, physics, and mathematics at two different universities namely Central Queensland University and the University of Melbourne, but never completed it.

2. Granville Woods

Granville Woods is an inventor from the United States who holds more than 50 patents for the rest of his life. He was a black man who was an electrical mechanic and engineer during the Civil War in the US.

He himself was not overly discussed as a revolutionary inventor like Alexander Graham Bell or Thomas Alfa Edison. But he contributed greatly in the rail system. Though he is only a school to elementary school, but interested in the transportation system.

Woods invented and patented tunnel construction for an electric rail system. Woods was also dubbed as Black Edison for discovering a combination of telephones and telephones that Thomas Edison eventually patented.

Allegedly, Woods is a person who does not enjoy the success of his work, because most of his inventions patented by other scientists, including the inventor of the light bulb.

3. Ferdinand Waldo Demara Jr.

He was arrested and spent the rest of his life in prison. However, in the 60s he made a biopic film played by famous actor, Tony Curtis.

4. Kato Lomb

Kato Lomb is probably a name we rarely hear. But he is self-taught learning 16 languages of the world and succeeded. People like Kato used to be called Polyglot.

He is the first simultaneous translator in the world. The simultaneous translators themselves are the usual translators we see at UN meetings, where the interpreters directly translate what the speaker is saying almost simultaneously.

Kato can even understand reading of contextual journalism, in 11 different languages. He also understands the literature with beautiful literature also in dozens of languages.

Born in Hungary, He is a PhD in Chemistry and Physics. Even so, language is its main interest.

He wrote a book that seemed to be a must for polyglot, Polyglot: How I Learn Languages.
