How to Check CPU Temperature
This time we will discuss how to check the temperature of CPU (Computer) or you can call Laptop, up to you.
Check CPU Temperature
There are mainly three different ways in which you can check or monitor your CPU temperature. It is a third party software, software manufacturer and bios. Third-party software is not created by your computer creation while software creation is the opposite. BIOS stands for 'basic input output system', it basically holds all the important data needed to start the computer and also some additional information. Do not worry, we will discuss this in more detail.
I personally use third party software to check CPU temperature because it is easier to find compared to software manufacturer. There's also a little chance I change something that will crash my computer. This can easily be mistakenly done in computer bios if you do not know what you're doing!
Third Party Software (Third Party Software)
How to check CPU temperature using third party software? I use a free software called Speed Fan . It not only measures the temperature of the CPU but also the temperature of your hard drive, CPU usage and other temperatures. There are also other free software that measure CPU temperature.
If you are using Linux you can download lm-sensor to monitor the temperature of computer hardware because SpeedFan does not work with Linux.

How to use SpeedFan
To use speedfan just download and install by following the on-screen instructions. When finished start the program and wait until the load. A window will appear. After reading click Close and your temperature should be fully visible.
CPU temperature monitoring: The manufacturer's default software
This is software made by computer manufacturers to specifically measure the temperature of your motherboard and components.
To find this software, you first have to know the manufacturer of your motherboard and your motherboard version. To find this go to: Start> All Programs> Accessories> System tools> System information.

What you want from this window as said above, is your system manufacturer and system model.
To find your manufacturer's good Google manufacturer software and search their website for your motherboard model and then check the temperature monitoring software. Or, Google your motherboard model number and search the manufacturing website then check the temperature monitoring software.
How to check Cpu temperature using bios
To enter your computer bios, press either: delete, F1, Esc or F2 key repeatedly as soon as you turn on your computer.
Some computers use different keys or functions to enter the bios. This can be seen when the computer is turned on, black screen with text may flash quickly before boot OS (operating system).
At the bottom of the screen before the change there will be a few words. In those words it will tell you how to enter your bios or computer configuration. To view this page correctly press, 'stop break' on your keyboard when the screen appears. This will delay the screen until you press the break pause again.
Bios are usually blue or gray screens. There is no mouse in this setting so we will use the arrow keys, enter and Esc (escape) to navigate.
Look for title, temperature monitoring PC system health / Hardware or something along this line.
Press enter when you have selected settings. Then your CPU temperature and other information should appear.
Press F10 or end on your keyboard to exit bios.

Now you know how to check CPU temperature. But how do you know When your PC is overheated and what you can do about it.
Symptoms of overheating
- The computer freezes randomly.
- Computer restarts at random.
- Random error message about overheating.
- Blue screen after some CPU usage.
- CPU temperature is more than 50 degrees Celsius when idle (this statistic is for desktop computer, CPU temp may be higher with laptop).
- etc
How to eliminate overheating
- Reapply thermal paste. This is the layer between your CPU and its hot sink. It should thermally connect the two surfaces together to allow the most efficient method of heat transfer from the CPU to the heat sink. When the layer is too thick or somehow damaged or separated the CPU can not distribute the heat properly because it is too hot.
- The computer case is clean of dust. You may find articles on this link: computer cleanup.
- Buy more fans for the case.
- Change the hot sink.
- Heat-sinks are not placed on the CPU properly.
- Change the CPU fan.
- Fans of places to allow proper airflow in and out of your computer case
In some cases it's time just to change your CPU because years of hard work, inefficient therefore it is generating a lot of heat under less load.
